Social and Economic Development of Displaced and Returnee Women and Girls in Kirkuk
2024-2025: KOHRW In partnership with UN Women and supported by the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund, the program trained over 80 women leaders in leadership, conflict resolution, peaceful coexistence, and countering violent extremism. Women’s groups carried out social initiatives and formed networks in Kirkuk to drive positive change in their communities.
As part of our project, Social and Economic Development of Displaced and Returnee Women and Girls in Kirkuk, we conducted a series of training courses designed for women leaders in Kirkuk. Over five days, more than 100 women and girls participated in these sessions, which went beyond education to focus on capacity-building and empowerment, equipping them with the confidence and resilience to navigate life’s challenges. Following the training, women’s teams were established in Kirkuk, leading to the launch of 10 initiatives funded by our organization. These efforts ultimately resulted in the creation of the Kirkuk Women’s Network for Peace, which has since been officially registered in the city.
